Game privacy
Hollowrise
Privacy policy · Effective November 5, 2026
Slate Oak LLC, doing business as Slate Oak Games ("we" or "the studio"), provides Hollowrise. This policy describes how Hollowrise on iOS and Android, its website and optional player support handle information. Platform-specific sections apply only to the version they name. Publishing this policy does not announce App Store or Google Play availability.
Hollowrise on iOS: playing and saving
Hollowrise stores your climb checkpoint, selected hero and mode, earned gold, permanent upgrades, recent run summaries, completed progress and preferences on your device. This includes difficulty, controls, sound, haptics, cosmetic choices, tutorial progress and whether the game has already requested Apple's review prompt. The game uses local storage inside its bundled web view. There is no Hollowrise login, studio-operated cloud-save service or developer gameplay server receiving these saves.
The current iOS build contains no advertising, advertising trackers or third-party gameplay analytics or crash-reporting SDK. It does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photo library. Haptic feedback uses local device functions and elapsed-time checks. These statements describe the current implementation; we will review and update this policy if its data practices change.
Device and Apple backup settings may affect whether app data is backed up or restored. We do not promise cross-device save transfer or recovery of deleted progress. Restoring a purchase restores verified access to purchased content, not a deleted saved climb.
iOS: Apple purchases, reviews and diagnostics
Apple provides product information, payment processing, purchase verification and Restore purchases. The game checks purchased access locally through StoreKit; we do not operate a server that receives your purchase receipts. This feature does not provide the studio with your payment-card details, Apple Account password or a game account identifier. Apple processes commerce information under its own policies. Contact Apple for Apple-controlled payment records or refund decisions.
The app may ask Apple to display its standard rating or review prompt after your first Act I Guardian victory. Apple decides whether the prompt appears and handles any rating or review you submit. The game does not receive your response through that prompt.
The app has no studio-operated automatic diagnostic uploader. Apple may collect device or app diagnostics and make reports available to developers according to the distribution channel and your settings. We may use reports made available to us to investigate faults and improve the game.
TestFlight is different from an App Store release. If you test Hollowrise through TestFlight, Apple automatically collects crash and usage information and shares it with the developer; you cannot opt out while using TestFlight. Reports and feedback can include device/build details and, depending on how you joined or submitted feedback, your name, email address, comments or screenshots. Apple's TestFlight privacy information explains this separately from optional device analytics.
iOS: optional Share Run and clipboard use
When you tap Share Run, the game prepares a text summary of that run, such as the hero, mode, floor or victory, trials, selected upgrades, weapon damage and kills, plus a link to the Hollowrise website. Where supported, your device offers system sharing; you choose the destination. If sharing is unsupported or fails, the game can write the summary to your clipboard and display a confirmation. Cancelling the share sheet does not automatically copy it.
The game does not read your clipboard, automatically send the summary to the studio, upload your full save, or attach a screenshot through this feature. Any destination you select processes the shared text under its own privacy practices. Sharing availability depends on your device and platform.
Hollowrise on Android
This section describes the Android version of Hollowrise. The Apple purchases, review-prompt, device-backup and TestFlight information elsewhere in this policy applies to the iOS version. The website and optional email-support sections apply to players on either platform.
Local progress and purchase records
The Android game stores climb progress, settings and Armory progress locally inside its Android WebView. There is no separate Hollowrise game account or studio cloud-save transfer. The game does not send your saved climb to a studio gameplay server. The app requests that Android backups be disabled; device and operating-system transfer behavior can differ. Clearing app storage or uninstalling can erase local progress. Restoring a purchase restores verified access to purchased content; it does not restore your saved climb or other local progress.
To retain and verify access to owned content, the Android app also keeps signed Google Play purchase records in its private app storage and checks those records when loading them. These records are separate from your gameplay save. Removing local app data does not delete purchase records that Google holds.
Google Play purchases and related services
Google Play provides checkout, product information and purchase restoration. Hollowrise uses Google Play Billing to check purchased access and acknowledge completed purchases. Acknowledgment sends the purchase token to Google Play. The studio does not receive your payment-card details through the game's checkout. Google handles its commerce information under its own privacy policies and processes Google-controlled purchase, account and refund matters.
Google Play Billing and its supporting Google libraries can also process billing-related technical and diagnostic information. Depending on the service event and configuration, this can include the app's package and version, Android version, device make and model, system-build information, memory information, a generated billing-client identifier that can link diagnostic events from the same client instance, and billing response codes or diagnostic messages. These service data flows are distinct from the locally stored climb. This description does not mean that every listed field is sent for every purchase or session. Google's privacy information explains its handling of information processed through its services: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Sharing a run
When you choose Share Run in the Android app, it prepares a text summary and opens Android's system sharing chooser. You choose the destination. The feature does not upload your complete save to a studio server. The receiving service handles shared content under its own privacy practices. The clipboard fallback described for other versions is not the Android sharing flow.
Support, retention and requests
Emailing support is optional and is separate from local gameplay. The support processing, AI assistance, retention and request provisions elsewhere in this policy also apply to Android support messages. Include Hollowrise in the subject when contacting support@slateoakgames.com. Do not send purchase tokens, passwords, verification codes or payment-card details.
Local progress and purchase-cache records are governed by the app's local storage controls. Google and other providers retain records under their own practices. Removing app data does not erase support correspondence or provider-held information. For requests about information held by the studio, use the contact and verification process in this policy. For Google-controlled information, use Google's privacy tools as well: https://myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy.
Optional email support — both platforms
You can play without emailing us. If you contact support@slateoakgames.com, include Hollowrise in the subject. We receive your email address, subject, message, delivery metadata and anything you choose to attach. Device, operating-system and game-version details help us investigate an issue; send only what is needed. Do not send purchase tokens, passwords, verification codes, payment-card details or unnecessary sensitive information.
Cloudflare routes support mail to Gmail and our studio M4 computer. Eligible raw subjects and message bodies are processed by Claude, an AI service from Anthropic, for classification and support summaries. This processing is not limited to redacted summaries. We use this information to handle support, investigate issues, organize feedback and prevent duplicate replies.
Routine messages may receive an automated acknowledgment or fixed guidance. Messages matching the processor's sensitive-phrase filter, attachment-bearing messages and cases requiring judgment are held for review. Filters may miss sensitive information. Attachments are not automatically opened by the support processor, but email providers receive them and they may be reviewed when needed. We do not guarantee that a person reads every message, a particular outcome or a fixed response time.
The website and external services
OpenAI’s ChatGPT Sites hosting records website traffic automatically. The studio can view aggregate unique-visitor and page-view counts, including totals over time. This host-provided measurement does not require an analytics SDK in the studio’s website code. Our hosting and delivery providers can add scripts and set cookies when you visit this website. OpenAI’s cookie policy lists the visitor cookie __Host-appgarden-visitor as an analytics cookie with a 90-day duration. Cloudflare uses cookies such as __cf_bm and cf_clearance for bot management and security checks; its cookie information describes their handling. These provider technologies are separate from the studio’s own website code. See the linked provider policies for their published practices.
The Hollowrise pages at slateoakgames.com are hosted using OpenAI's ChatGPT Sites infrastructure, with Cloudflare used for domain and delivery services. The studio's website code has no user accounts, advertising trackers, embedded analytics or contact forms, and does not set cookies. Hosting and delivery providers may process technical request information, including IP addresses and logs, to deliver and protect the site. Their own services and privacy policies apply to that processing.
Following an external link, choosing a sharing destination or contacting a provider opens a service with its own practices. The studio does not control those services. Provider privacy information: Apple, Cloudflare, Google, Anthropic and OpenAI.
Retention, requests and choices — both platforms
Data on your device
Local gameplay data remains under your device's storage and backup controls. Removing local app data can erase your progress and local purchase-cache records. It does not delete support emails or records held by Apple, Google or other providers. Restoring purchased access does not restore a deleted saved climb. Platform-specific backup and transfer limits are described above.
What the studio retains
We retain support correspondence, summaries and delivery/security records as needed for support, issue investigation, duplicate prevention and business or legal requirements. These can include your email address, message content, case or thread references and reply history. There is no fixed automatic deletion schedule. Replacing a processing snapshot does not erase correspondence or retained case records. Providers also retain information under their own policies; we have not established a universal retention period for their records.
How to request access, correction or deletion
- Email support@slateoakgames.com with “Hollowrise privacy request” in the subject.
- Tell us whether you want access, correction or deletion, and identify the support correspondence or studio-held information concerned. Where possible, write from the address used for that correspondence. Send only information needed to locate it; do not send purchase tokens, passwords, verification codes or card details.
- We may ask for information needed to verify the request. Requests require review; sending an email does not automatically delete records. We will assess what studio-held information can be accessed, corrected or deleted and what must or may be retained under applicable requirements or exceptions.
Deletion requests can concern studio-held support correspondence, summaries and related records. Some case references, reply history or delivery/security records may need to be kept for duplicate prevention or business or legal requirements. There is no fixed completion-time promise. Available privacy rights depend on where you live.
We do not offer an automated cross-provider erasure process or promise that a studio request removes every provider's copies, logs, backups or purchase records. For Apple-controlled information, use Apple's privacy tools; for Google-controlled information, use Google's privacy tools as well. Contact other providers directly for information they control. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact the same support address so we can review it.
